Electrometer Modules

Electrometer Modules

The electrometers’ flexibility is further increased by various types of complementary replaceable modules that will enrich basic metering systems with new dimensions. The ZPA Smart Energy electrometers have a modular design and it is possible to insert certain types of expansion modules into a special shaft.

These modules can be inserted into the electrometer during operation of the instrument at the customer's premises without breaching the production seal.

The additional modules allow, for example, for the switching of tariffs using the ripple control or switching clock. By integrating two instruments into one, there is a major saving of purchasing and assembly costs, as well as saving space in distribution switchboards. Other possible modules are communication modules that perform regular reading of measured values; this data is then transferred to a central data station. This transfer may be implemented in a variety of ways: via the energy grid, using a twisted two-core cable or a wireless connection. Other modules are able to record the load profile, the real time or the event recorder.

The modules may also be equipped with other safety or protective elements, such as a terminal board cover opening sensor or separate seals on the upper electrometer cover.

The principle of the replaceable modules is proven in the electric metering equipment and therefore the future instruments in this category will also have the ability to utilize additional modules and ZPA Smart Energy is working intensively on expanding production. We are working on implementing a wide variety of functionalities requested by customers, such as fully duplex communication in real time, switching of tariffs upon a central command, remote disconnecting of power load, etc.

The modules are designed so that they reflect the requirements of the customers without an intervention into the actual electrometer, which significantly shortens the reaction time for modification of the electrometer.
